Construction and Detours

To fully reconstruct the highway from Clay to Jackson streets, including four feet of excavation, ODOT needs to close the center turn lane on Pacific Highway West/OR 99W approaching Main Street/OR 51. This closure will last between July 8 and August 29, 2019. This turn lane closure will allow our contractor to rebuild half the roadway at a time, while allowing both north and southbound traffic lanes to remain open.

During Construction

  • OR 99W will remain open during construction, but delays are expected.
  • Watch for signage and detours as the project progresses. Pedestrian access, including those with disabilities, will be maintained with short detours for safety.
  • ODOT will work closely with businesses to ensure that employees and customers have access during construction.
  • Work hours will generally be at night, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Fridays. Some less intensive work may occur during daytime hours.

Jackson Street to Clay Street Construction Work Area

OR 99W construction staging: one northbound and one southbound lane will remain open while construction takes place on the other side of the road.

One northbound and one southbound traffic lane will remain open while construction takes place on the other side of the road.

Construction Schedule (2019)

Construction schedule: Summer 2019 - June through August will have hte most impactful work, detours will occur during temporary street closures; Fall-Winter 2019 - Construction will be less disruptive. ADA ramp and traffic light improvements will occur during this time; December 2019 - Project complete.

Detours for Local Access

East and westbound travelers on OR 99W wanting to turn onto Main Street will be redirected using detour signs to Hoffman Road. During this local detour, drivers on Main Street will still be able to turn north or south onto OR 99W at the signal, just like they do today.

  • Work window: July 8 – Aug 29
  • Both a northbound and a southbound traffic lane will remain open during construction.
  • No left turns will be allowed between Jackson Street and Clay Street.
